The Traveling Bouquet: Knokke
Today I’m bringing you along on a little day-outing to the Belgian coast that I enjoyed with my sister and our floral friend, Dainty Bess. She got all dolled up in her creamiest shades of dahlias, nasturtiums, feverfew, and sweet peas, dressed to impress the beach-goers in Knokke.
We caught the early train (yes, 8:30 in the morning is early for us flowery folk) and sat back in our seats, enjoying the fields of green flying by the windows.
We changed trains in Brugge/Bruges (a beautiful city in its own right), where we all grabbed a cafe au lait and a chocolate croissant before hopping on the regional train to Knokke.
Once in Knokke we enjoyed a little of the local “color”. Dainty Bess particularly enjoyed watching all the fancy cars drive by. Coming from the Belgian countryside, she wasn’t used to seeing Bentleys, Aston Martins, Ferraris, and Maseratis parading down the streets.
After window-shopping and people-watching, we all made our way to the beach. We strolled along the waterfront, enjoying the feeling of the sand between our toes (er… petals in Dainty Bess’ case).
We dipped our feet in the calm waters of the sea, which surprisingly weren’t cold at all! Had we brought our swimsuits, all three of us just might have taken a dip!
Deciding that us country folk were dragging her down, Dainty decided to hit the town on her own. We said our farewells and left her on a beach-front bench.
I haven’t had much luck hearing back from the traveling bouquets, but I’m very confident that Dainty Bess snagged herself a hot date who was able to show her a good time!
Have a wonderful day guys, and I’ll see you tomorrow for a more extended tour through Knokke! :)
