So here we are again, strolling down fancy-shmancy Hollywood Boulevard… except it isn’t so fancy-shmancy anymore… it’s actually a bit of a tourist trap with lots of crazy storefronts, interesting characters, and a very lively nightlife. Despite the slight taint of tourists everywhere, it’s still kind of a spot you can’t pass up. You probably want to see a few famous names engraved on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, right? Maybe you even want to ride around in an open-top van to drive by all the “celebrity homes”?
Everyone’s a star in Hollywood! You can pick up your very own Oscar, snag a nifty Los Angeles license plate, or take a picture with Marilyn Monroe.
You’ve got some kooky characters as well. This guy was trying to save the thousands of lost souls meandering along the main drag. One storefront houses hundreds of L. Ron Hubbard books and serves as a Scientology hot-spot. Then you have the many musicians and folks dressed in costume that put on an act of their own, hoping to grasp their own little piece of Hollywood glory.
I heard that on the corner of Hollywood and Highland (The Hollywood and Highland Center) there was a “must-see” spot to capture the infamous Hollywood sign. Off I went! Naturally, this section of Hollywood Boulevard was blocked off due to some sort of filming or performance. As I climbed the stairs of the shopping center, I could already see the throngs of people enjoying the view from the two overpasses.
Everyone was trying to get the best spot to take pictures. One guy even figured out how to use the last few seconds of this kid’s allotted time on the telescope to capture a zoomed-in version of the Hollywood sign. Since my lens doesn’t have any zoom capabilities… I was a little disappointed at how far away the sign actually was… doh!
Here’s the best I could do for you guys! I have a few tricks up my sleeve to capture some more iconic attractions here in L.A., so stay tuned! :)
If there’s something or some place (or someone,, tee-hee?!) that you guys would like to see, please let me know! I’d be happy to go on a treasure-hunt in search of special requests :)
Have a wonderful day, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
