Hey there everyone!
Who’s up for a little fun with flowers? With all these crafty ideas floating through my head, good weather for photoshoots, and just the right flowers in bloom, I figured I better just go with the flow and have some fun! It’s been hot… and I mean hot. For whatever reason, my body is not wanting to let me do any hard work outside. Probably justifiably so! If I can’t keep busy outside, what’s the next best thing? Bring the flowers inside, of course! :)
Wanting to recreate a bit of the flower crown magic from our springtime project, I set about building another base for a floral crown. I gathered my medium gauge wire (I also used super thin floral wire, which worked just fine as well), shears, and floral tape. I also went on a picking rampage in the lavender and verbena borders.
After patiently wrapping the length of my wire in floral tape, I added my flowers, one by one, to the crown. The lavender needed a bit more overlapping, but the verbena filled in quite nicely.
Once I was done, it was time for some modeling… but I figured that you’d seen enough of me! I looked long and hard for willing models with great smiles, fabulous coloring, and shiny hair… errrr, fur. That’s right, our little doggies would do just the trick! Even better, our “crowns” could be worn in multiple ways.
On the right you see Dieter modeling the verbena crown, but he’s wearing it like a collar. How creative, Dieter!
On the left he chose to wear the lavender crown in a more traditional manner. But let’s be honest… the lavender crown complete with a ribbon was a bit on the feminine side for our smooth-talking man.
The crown went off in search of a more fitting model, and was happy to come across Heidi! Her ruby red locks complimented the deep blue lavender flowers nicely. Perhaps we should consider changing her name to Gwendolyn, Countess of Camelot.
Another special someone wanted to model her take on the lavender crown. Xena, who was celebrating her 16th (!!!) birthday, wanted to show all of the doggies that a lavender crown can also transform into a lovely lavender collar! I think this senior model looks pretty darn good for her age, don’t you?
So you see, flower fashion isn’t just for us humans. Our furry friends can enjoy it too!
Although Dieter seemed a bit exhausted after his little photo session… or maybe he was a bit embarrassed that his mom was going to post pictures of him in a girly flower crown? I can’t say that the dogs enjoyed the whole idea as much as I did. The flower collars seemed much more acceptable than the crowns. Good to know!
Don’t worry, no doggies were harmed in the making of this post. Many treats were given out as a reward for their patience and cooperation :)
Have a fabulous day, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
