Flowers For a Special Someone
Good evening, guys!
Today’s color palette is all about calm, serene, and pristine pastels. This seasonal yet soft bouquet was put together for an extra special someone… but I’ve been sworn to secrecy until tomorrow! So I can’t mention yet who the flowers are for, but there’s no harm in showing you the flowers already… so why not? I went about collecting some fluffy and delicate dried grasses, dahlias of all shapes, shades and sizes, pixie lupine, gomphrena, cosmos, stock, and scabiosa. If you’re wondering why I haven’t used gomphrena or stock in bouquets before… it’s because my crop size this year was embarrassingly small and sporadic. Better luck next year, I suppose!
Lately I’ve been partial to pinks and purples, but I was quite taken with the soft combination of creamy yellows and pale pinks. Gitt’s Perfection, Rustig, Wizard of Oz, Sympathy, Tohsuikyou, D Day, and Vanilla dahlias teamed up with Double Click cosmos and soft pink scabiosa.
Despite the muted color palette, I quite like the interest provided by the different textures and shapes of the dahlias combined with the whisps of grass and extra frilly flowers here and there. Unsurprisingly, I guess, the dried grasses break easily. I learned this the hard way… so be careful where you rest the arrangement, hehe!
Sometimes an arrangement doesn’t have to be overwhelming or scream for attention in order to turn heads. Sometimes a soft, subdued color combination can make just the right statement. I just hope that the recipient of the bouquet will agree!
What about you guys… if you had to describe your personality through flowers, what would it be? Bright and crazy sunflowers? Deep and dramatic jewel tones? Subtle and soft pastels?
