Hi there festive folks! Happy Thanksgiving Eve to all of my American buddies!
I know, I know. You’re probably thinking “It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, what’s this crazy lady doing posting about Christmas?”. Well folks, that’s just the way it is here in the States. We don’t have the patience to celebrate one holiday at a time… we always have to be one step ahead. Everywhere you go, there’s gobs of garland, tons of tinsel, lots of lights, and a whole slew of Santas.
Businesses are eagerly awaiting the Black Friday madness- stocking their stores with the latest and greatest gift ideas, decorating to the nines, and, without a doubt, they’ll all be playing Christmas carols mere hours after the turkey’s been carved. But hey, who am I to complain? I love Christmas carols, and I just can’t get enough of all the bright and cheerful decorations artfully arranged in all the storefronts. So, why not share a little of the Christmas craziness with you guys, right?
We’ll kick off our tinseltown tour at the West End Nursery in San Rafael- a local mom n’ pop garden center that just happens to set up one of the coolest Christmas Houses in town.
They’ve got every kind of Santa you could possibly be looking for… and all of his little helpers too!
The train to the North Pole comes ’round every few minutes to take new loads of “Naughty or Nice” lists up to the Big Man in Red.
There are giant, bejeweled nutcrackers…. and Santas that wave to and fro.
That’s right. Everything from fairy Santa ornaments to traditional iconic statues.
And these pretty white owls were too beautiful to pass up. I couldn’t resist snapping a photo or two of their sparkly white faces.
If you’re in the neighborhood, feel free to swing by to support a local family-owned garden center. Between the two floors of holiday decorations and dozens of embellished trees, I can practically guarantee that you’ll find at least one thing that would be perfect for your home.
Our family tradition has always been getting our Christmas tree sometime around Thanksgiving weekend… I know, we totally give in to all of that holiday hubbub. If you’re gonna spend all that money on a tree and all that energy hanging the decorations, why not eek out every extra day of Christmas cheer that you can, right?
Do you guys have any special Christmas traditions?
Have a wonderful day, and I’ll see you tomorrow!
